You will work autonomously in Christchurch, with our other Environmental Scientist located in Nelson for support and mentoring. 

Job Description

The role

Our environmental team specialises in providing practical advice and solutions that form the foundations for residential, industrial and land development projects. Our expert team has considerable experience working on a diverse range of projects across the South Island and enjoys the challenge of New Zealand’s variable geological environment.

With a solid forward workload, we are looking for an intermediate environmental scientist to join our team here in Christchurch. You will be responsible for the management of projects including soil and groundwater investigation and remediation.

You will collaborate with a range of professionals within our Christchurch office as well as our other teams across the seven South Island offices and will have a good opportunity for individual mentoring.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will be a Certified Environmental Practitioner (or working towards CEnvP) with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in investigation, assessment and technical reporting in contaminated land projects, who will be:

  • An exceptional communicator, with a high level of commercial acumen and experienced in managing risk  
  • A team-player, able to work effectively with others and  be “hands-on” when the need arises 
  • Enjoying mentoring and training others 
  • Able to identify new business opportunities and build long-term relationships with current and future clients 
  • Positive attitude and flexible approach to problem solving.
